Observation details
An adult Semipalmated Sandpiper - in very worn plumage, the blackish feathers are the alternate plumage moulting out. Bill shape and size with the thickish tip are all indicative of a semipalmated. Good bird for Kona, and one that looks much different than most I have seen in Hawaii as we usually see juveniles.
