Observation details
Between Town End Pier and Kingston Bridge. Cormorant species seen feeding, which looked too small and brown for a Great Cormorant, and juvenile Shag was suspected. It swam very low in the water with more than half of the body submerged. On viewing with binoculars noted steep forehead, obvious white throat and didn't look much larger than Mallards swimming nearly. Some record shots taken, showing additional head, bare-part and bill features of Shag: head feathering surrounding eye, eye yellow with a yellow eye-ring, relatively slim, parallel bill . It was completely oblivious to heavy leisure boat traffic and crowds of people on the bank, but looked in good condition.
