Observation details
When I arrived, the peregrine falcon had buzzed the shorebird flock and the Ruff had disappeared high into the sky, so I went to the east mudflat by the inlet stream and road bridge. Phalaropes yes, ruff no, so I returned to the original site and the Ruff was present at 2:50. I was able to take a few photos before the Peregrine returned and flushed all the shorebirds again. So I returned to the east end and all the shorebirds were condensed on the water then would put into the air in tight distracting flight, then settle again. landlords were chirping and the Peregrine returned again and all the birds took flight. I was able to photograph the swimming ruff and western sandpiper and a phalarope with some secondary feathers taken off the wing by the falcon.
