Observation details

attracted to marker 17 area when teeming with Yellow-Rumped Warblers, Ruby-Crowned Kinglets, Bushtits. Actually dove down to grab one of the birds in the lower branches of a eucalyptus and side-swiped a palm frond in the process, missing its prey and sending them all in panicked flight. Landed on a dead tree, giving me clear sight - comparable to size of a Kestrel, which is what I first thought it was, brown with mottled white on back, barred tail, yellow eyes, thin legs. Small-headed. Chest still streaked brown a faint rust hue, no gray anywhere. Immature appearance.
