Observation details
A Purple Gallinule was found at Cook's Lake, Dudleyville, AZ. It was on the very small island in the center of the lake. This was documented at the time in Volume 37 number 6 of American Birds - November-December 1983. At that time the magazine was in black-and-white and the photo did not reproduce that well. It was taken with Kodachrome 64 slide film. It remained the following day; then could not be relocated. Rare, scattered reports in summer at permanent water sites. Primarily in southern most and southeast Arizona. Unmistakable in adult plumage.
