Observation details
Very brown on wings and back as well as head, bill pointed and slightly decurved. Legs were muddy. The breast and belly of these birds was white. These were identified by another birder, who explained the id to me. They did not feed in a flock, like sanderlings, but joined together in flight. Bill slightly longer than head. They feed on the land and in water up to their belly. They picked very methodically while foraging.
