Observation details
2 juveniles seen. Birds seen well away from each other. Quick look at first bird as it exited cattails and went into the next bunch. I learned from that one and when the second entered the west end of a group of cattails, I set camera on the east side and photographed as it exited. Much larger than nearby killdeer, proportionately long neck and legs, plain grey ventrum, pale stripe from neck to chest and chestnut back all point to king rail.
