Observation details
Large sparrows, buffy yellow on face, thin streaking breast, greenish nape. Heard singing repeatedly short mechanical song, then seen singing while perched on tall weeds. After observing for a short time, the bird flew deeper back to the field and was seen landing in the same plant as a second, not singing bird, both seen clearly together by myself and Frank Fekel. They then dropped to the ground and out of sight together. Assumed to be a male and female pair. Birders urged to be patient and not to harass these likely first nesting birds in many years with playback.
