Observation details
Rare in June. Found and reported earlier originally by Debbie Segal this morning. After we had been scanning for this bird for about 5 minutes, it flew in low to the boat ramp channel area and vocalized a bit with rattle calls. It flew back out after about two minutes and then flew past the pier, low over open water, and continued on to the eastern edge of the lake, about .75 miles from end of pier. If looking out from pier with 12 o’clock position being end of pier, then Kingfisher ended up at 2 o’clock position on the lake’s edge. Large bill on blue-gray, rust, and white bird (it was either an adult female or a juvenile). Got video and photos. Alachua County June Challenge bird #123
