Observation details
Adult (by thin, golden flecks and streaks in uppersides) - Other than a February 19th, 1995 record this is the 2nd Delaware and 2nd Sussex County record! A huge skua with warm brown tone overall, dark-brownish/black cap on head, golden-brown nape and cheek, and large white flashes in upper and underwings. Briefly seen far behind in our wake, but then we turned around and chased it back up the slick and after a few minutes the skua came tearing back up the slick towards us, and made a few nice passes. Seen attacking Herring and Great Black-backed Gulls for bits of chum. Photos and video.
