Observation details
perched on a pond island next to a juvenile double-crested cormorant for excellent comparison. appeared 2/3 to 3/4 the size of the double-crested, with black feathered lores rather than orange lores. unable to get a photo before a harrier flushed all birds off the island; the cormorant returned to the island, when this digiscoped phone photo was taken.
