Observation details
Reported yesterday on the KS Birds listserv, first found by Lucas Deccico. Southwestern side of the western pond. Behavior: typical for phoebe, frequently flying between perches on trees, strong tail bobbing, stayed near edge of pond. Appearance: black head, throat, wings, breast, bill, and tail. Back slightly lighter/more gray than head. White belly and under tail coverts. Sharp contrast between breast and belly rule out hybrid. Call: a single, whistled, fairly high-pitched note, almost an exact match for the third recording in the Merlin app.
