Observation details
One bird seen previously 2 days ago in the same location. Both times the Ground-Dove was in a mixed feeding flock of Vesper & Savannah Sparrows & other field birds. This was a small dove with a plain back and spots on the wings. The tail appeared dark underneath and slightly erect while the dove was walking. It stayed in weedy grass between the field margin and the roadside & did not tolerate observers moving too close. The three observers, Dottie & Doris Boyles and myself, saw the ruddy underwings when the bird flew. The bird appears to have scaling on its head in the attached photos although this was not obvious through binoculars.
