Observation details
Sitting at my laptop at the window facing the road, I saw movement in the trees across the road. No leaves yet and a pair of Wood Ducks were exploring a dead tree not far in the forest from the road. The male sat on top while the female examined a hole on the north side. They were there for about 5 minutes then flew away. Unfortunately two people appeared on the road right after, so they may have scared away the Wood Ducks. From my experience in Essex County with our own Wood Duck box by our pond, these ducks are very skittish and don't mix well with people.
