Observation details
The bird was calling spontaneously several hundred feet down deep in a canyon to the north. We identified it by voice but didn't see it. Continuing bird first noticed in 2012 on June 9. I got a number of recordings with an Olympus LS-10 equipped with a Sennheiser MKE-400 short shotgun microphone. I submitted a recording and a sonogram to the LA county eBird moderator to document the record. Conditions were less than optimal for hearing the bird due to strong winds. The recordings were made during brief lulls in the wind; when the wind picked up, the vocalizations by the bird were not audible. The sound file and a sonogram are available on the Xeno-Canto website at: https://www.xeno-canto.org/104003
