Observation details
At the Houston Pond- Our son said he saw a Virginia Rail while near the pond wooden walkway, head into the cattail marsh area. At about 1230 pm, I played the call. About 30 seconds later, we heard a piglike response from the bird about 8 ft away and saw it run around. Shortly after, we heard another make a call on the other side. There were at least two here and we saw them together at different times. We hung out in this area for about a while and witnessed call back between the two, flying, preening, eating, and at one point my son said he saw them mating or what appeared to be. I loaded some pics and videos. One is especially blurry, but the audio captures one calling from the left and the center rail responding. This is our first post on ebird and I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing ;)
