Observation details
Comments added April 2020 after a request for further information and ema il correspondence with the reviewer Francesca Albini. I reviewed my field book for the observation in question. We recorded Colima Warbler, I had seen one previously in Jalisco a few years earlier. I have no additional notes on why I made that ID. At the time, I had only been birding for about four years at the time so not extremely confident in my ID. The good news is that I was looking up most unusual birds in a North American field guide (not sure if Colima is in Howell & Webb) so would have checked. Was somewhat well versed in comparison of Nashville, Virginia and Colima warblers. I was pretty careful but it is possible that I could have misidentified a Nashville for a Colima Warbler in this location. Strangely, I remember the bird, the flock and even the oak tree it was feeding in pretty vividly. There were a large number of Hermit Warblers and warblers in the oak tree at eye height from the road. A great memory.
