Observation details
A whirr of wings and glimpse a pitta. Chased up and turns out to be an immature Red-bellied Pitta. Watched doing an alarm display - leaning forward, flicking wings out & forward - black with white patch (base to primaries?). Thrush-like head with dark & pale stripes (moustachial & sub-moustachial?). White upper breast. Rest of underparts apparently dark scallops on buff. Bill with pale orangy base & dark otherwise. Dark eye. Difficult to see - a few bounces & the display only.
