Not the best quality but calls can be made out

Observation details

Searching for this species. Previous checklist recorded five after drawing them out with playback. Stood near the marshy area on the Ken Hay Nature Trail and used multiple recordings from the iBird app. Finally heard a small group of individuals respond to the pair calls. At least three heard. Waited around for a bit longer as they were extremely close to me and I had caught glimpses of individuals in the water and I was finally rewarded with a great view of a Virginia Rail’s head. Long orange bill, navy blue cheeks with brown on top of head.
