Media notes
The bird began singing at 5:39:38, after which I got onto it at 5:40:21 after missing three songs. for much of the recording the bird was about 50-55 meters away and 25 meters up in a relatively small grove of trees on a slope on the north side of the road opposite where the first trail enters the forestry study plot (incorrectly suggested to be Bird #3 in a voice announcement). The bird seemed shift positions slightly during the first part this recording (probably moving back-and-forth around the trunk or large branch), but it remained in essentially the same area almost throughout the first part of this recording. It eventually moved 75-100 meters back towards the back side of the grove and farther out along the road near the end of this recording, after which it was 60-80 meters away from my position along the road. The bird seemed to be relatively low at this point (the parabola was pointed at about eye-level), if not farther away than I thought, and with dense scrub between me and it. I shifted positions between the two parts of this recording, with the second part beginning at 6:14:10 after I missed 11 songs. The bird was now about 30-35 meters away and 20-25 meters up overhead (the bird was in trees that were some distance down the slope, so it was higher up than it appeared). The bird moved again just before 6:18:43, and it continued to move after this, but it remained in the same general area along the lower edge of the slope at the northeastern end of the grove (along the edge of the swamp) and towards the eastern end of where it typically sang. Throughout the second part of this recording, the bird was generally 30-50 meters away and 25-30 meters up in the larger trees within a roughly 1 hectare grove with tall trees but an open understory. Mostly cloudy, intermittent breeze, 77° F. This individual was recorded multiple times and can be found in the following ML records: 222362, 222372, 222382. Equipment Notes: Sennheiser powered using phantom power and with filter in flat position and attenuator off for all recordings. Nagra input set at 2 mV / Pa and low-pass filter in flat position unless noted otherwise.
