Media notes
This bird was unseen at the time, but when recorded it was probably about 100 meters away and on or very near the ground on the far side of an open pasture with the vegetation begin to get a little taller and more scrubby. This was recorded 16.8 kilometers by road east of El Palmar along the road to Río Grande. I never saw this bird at all, but Brian Daniels managed to see it briefly visit flew low over the field. We identified this bird by comparing its vocalization with those on the nightjars of the world CD by Cleery. A full moon was high overhead but it was completely obscured by clouds, intermittently breezy, upper 70s to low 80s. Equipment Notes: Sennheiser powered using phantom power and with filter in flat position and attenuator off for all recordings. Nagra input set at 2 mV / Pa and low-pass filter in flat position unless noted otherwise.
