Observation details
**MEGA** Found by John Gluth & Andrew Baksh Alternate plumaged adult. Obvious brick red face and throat; dark lores and pale supercilium that appeared split. Darker cap with dense streaking. Necklace of spots along border of red face and throat, continuing down sides of breast. Few streaks near vent. Mantle much darker than nearby Semis; scaps dark centered with rufous fringes. Dull gray, contrasting coverts and tertials. Long primary projection beyond tertial tips, noticeable on fontal views when bending over to feed. Clearly lacked webbing between toes; possessed hind toe. A bit smaller than accompanying Semis. Noticeably more attenuated in structure (vs. plump figure of Semis). Observed in flight; wingstripe may be subtly brighter than that of Semis - confirmed in photos.
