Observation details
Early, but not exceptionally so Id imagine (migrants arrive in northern california by late march). Poor photos. With barn swallow swarm. Small, narrow winged swallow much smaller than nearby tree swallows with complete, thick brown breast band extending farther down chest in the middle, delineated white throat that wrapped around auriculars. Back sandy brown (not deep, dark brown as in imm tree), with noticeably paler rump. Tree swallow would be larger w weaker breastband and no pinch in the middle, rough-wing would have smudge brownish throat
