Observation details
Found south of High Pines in marsh where road bends south toward the Gurnet. Afforded many nice photos. A selection accompany this posting. Although the bird's head was swiveling frequently through 180+ degrees-checking out the grassy marsh around him while I was observing it (c. 15 minutes), it was not bothered by cars going by very close to where it was sitting. It flew 3 times- once for only about 50 yards low over the grass and the second time it went high, maybe 200-300 feet and out over the bay and then looped back and landed about 100 yards from where it went up. Its last flight was a lazy flap over toward the peat peninsula. My car was a excellent blind that allowed me to inch close enough for my 400mm lens to get a few memorable shots. some of which are attached to this posting
