Observation details

Associated loosely with Pied-billed Grebe; the R-n was about 40% larger than P-b. Long, yellowish bill. Knob like feathers at back of dark "cap" on head. Front of neck reddish/brownish. Back of neck uniformly dark. Buffy body with white breast at waterline. We both studied it from 9:30 to close to 10 am. Approx. 200 yards away, on flat water (no wind) so great views. Observed with both spotting scope and binoculars.
