Observation details
I'm amazed by this repeat sighting. I spotted the fulmar flying south a little after 3:20pm, by 3:24 it was being chased by an adult Bald Eagle. The eagle made a couple passes at the bird, including floating for a couple seconds after a failed attempt. At 3:25 the eagle picked the fulmar off the water and flew towards the Alki south beach. I found two adult BAEA in the same tree as earlier in the week but no fulmar even though it was in the eagle's talons when it went out of sight in this direction - maybe it dropped it while out of view? All dark gray/brown tubenose with big head, broader, more rounded wings than shearwaters. Stayed low to the water flying with a series of quick but not especially snappy wings beats, sometimes lifting a little off the water while flapping, followed by glides on mostly flat but sometimes slightly bowed wings. A couple times I think I could see a little pale on the inner primaries.
