Observation details
One seen briefly, photographed. The photo has been posted on NSBS Facebook page and will be on my blog at https://capesablebirding.wordpress.co later. With a two Semipalmated Sandpipers and a few Semipalmated Plovers. The light was awful but I scoped the bird at around 130-50m range anyway. The bird was long billed, showing a clear downward turn in the last quarter, not very clear on the photos though. Structurally the bird was weighted forwards, being more front heavy looking that the accompanying Semi-p Sands. It appeared fairly uniformly grey/brown although colour was not easy to discern. There appeared to be some warmth about the wing coverts and perhaps a smudge on the ear coverts. Both legs and bill appeared black. The birds were present only for a few minutes before flushing for reasons only known the themselves.
