Observation details
Feeding offshore with two Common Terns. Adult in moult. Long, black bill with paler tip. The cap well moulted to a black line through the eye and then continuing onto the back of the head. Overall colour very white but three/four primaries dusky, forming a wedge. Tail very short and forked, Size, larger than Common Terns, feeding by spectacular plunge diving, occasionally hovering high then diving. Wing beats stiff, rigid.
