Observation details
A single bird was seen foraging in low Palo Verde trees at the end of Two Cow Road. I was able to get great views of the bird, heard its constant high thin tsee-tsee-tsee notes as it foraged, and got a decent diagnostic photo of the bird. It was similar to a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in size, but had a bright yellow median crown stripe that was bordered in black, black eye and tiny black bill, white lores and supercilium, narrow black line behind the eyes, narrow black mallar stripe, pale gray undersides, greenish back, wings with tinges of yellow-olive, and bold black-and-white wing bars.
