Observation details
Found this morning by David Rankin at pond C. Very active. Seen perching on the mule fat or cattails, flying out to hunt, then returning to a perch. Seen near a male Vermilion Flycatcher and a Black Phoebe. Slightly larger than nearby Black Phoebe. Brownish/gray back and tail. Darker brownish/gray head. Whitish chin and partial collar. Slight olive wash to sides of upper breast. Belly had a very pale yellow wash. Whitish under tail coverts. Small dark bill. Dark legs and feet. The edges of the primaries appeared to have a whitish edge. Slightly notched tail. I never heard this bird call.
