Observation details
One of which was in the canal, and when I slowly walked down to the waters edge to get a few photos, the bird swam literally right up to me. It then walked out of the water to stand about 10 feet away from me and preen. I have to assume it's been fed by the fishermen that use this area, as every time I walked away from the bird, she would follow me like a baby duck. This went on for a good 10 minutes, and by now I'm talking to her- asking her to stay put so I can get a decent shot or two. I was carrying a 300mm lens, so I had to get at least 10 feet away to get a full body shot. Her friendliness made that a challenge, actually. Very funny. I think she likes me....
