Observation details
The only gull at the end of the boardwalk. Skittish - took off along shore toward Black Point shortly after getting a few digiphonescopes. Large with pink legs and a longish black bill. When I first saw it, I thought the back looked fairly smooth like a Thayer's, but the tertials contrasted too much and the head looked fairly white and the undertail coverts were strongly marked, all good marks for Herring. Also, it lacked the primary edges I usually see on juv Thayer's.
