Boat-billed herons give the higher-pitched calls: "buck buck buck". The deep, guttural sounds were made by cormorants. There were about 50 herons on this island. They were nest-building and displaying. Several nests contained eggs. Other Behaviors: Perform Visual Display, Social Context: Colony. Habitat: Swamp, Thicket/Brush.
