Observation details

Had just got looks at 2 POJA that were relatively close by. Noticed another distant bird that was overall more petite, and acting like a tern. It even dipped down to the water. I put my bins on it and immediately noticed the long tail. Shocked, we gave chase to this bird and had more opportunity to study its size in comparison to the POJAs. It was noticeably smaller. Was not noticeably pale underneath, so the bird is likely a sub-adult. The supporting photo shows the very slim body/build and thin bases to the wings to start. Also shown is the noticeably long tail. Also of note, is we chased this bird from PBC waters into Broward County waters. The timing appears to match up with previous eBird records that are in late October for LTJA.
