Male Red-crested Bustards in grass and calling. The Red-crested Bustard, or Korhaan (Lophotis ruficrista) is a small, fairly common Bustard found in sub-Saharan Africa. These birds are generally solitary and sedentary, and the black-bellied males are often heard giving their very loud call – a series of clicks followed by an ear-piercing ‘kyip-kyip-kyip’. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 19, 2019.
