Media notes

Juvenile thousands of kilometres from its natural environment. Some close up shots. This juvenile Emperor Penguin called Happy Feet gained celebrity status when it strayed thousands of kilometres from its natural habitat to New Zealand shores. The bird had to be rescued, fed and ingested sand removed from its stomach. The bird was released into the Southern Ocean and tracked via a satellite tracking device for a few days and we hope it survives to hear the pitter-platter of the feet of its own off-spring. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
