Observation details
To think that this was the very first true Wader I saw! When I spotted a small pond in the middle of the beach, I knew this was as good a place as any to begin the hunt... imagine my astonishment when I zoomed in and there, clear as day, was the Grey Plover!!! It’s frosty back... it’s huge bill... it’s stately pauses and short, slow steps... it seemed far more sedate than the average Golden Plover, but sadly vanished the moment I fetched Dad to come and see it! At least the photos turned out ok, and I can finally say I have experienced the Grey Plover in Tasmania!!
