Observation details
There were several hummingbirds flying around. I initially saw several Anna’s and proceeded to assume they were all Anna’s. Then a costa’s chirped by as I was trying to record the titmouse. The call… A very high crisp “chip” flight call at 7-10k. Very similar to the chip flight call that Anna’s make, but the Anna’s is slightly lower in pitch and a bit huskier in tone. For comparison… This is an Anna’s chip flight call, which extends as low as 2k. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/198597661 These are some other Costa recordings, a thin high pitched chip typically at 6-10k. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/168863811 and https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/177165141 Thanks to Ryan Winkleman for helping me differentiate the calls/songs.
