Observation details
I noticed a perched juvenile sat in a deciduous tree north of the university grounds while biking along the Meewasin trail. As i got closer, it took off and I got fuzzy photos of it flying away. Very dark bird with finely streaked breast I then walked further up the trail and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a second NOGO , this time an adult, stooped over a pigeon it had just caught just off the path. A total "right place right time' moment and something I've wanted to see up close forever. I had to be extremely stealthy to obtain photos of this bird and approached it very carefully, using my bike as a blind.
