Observation details
unfortunately not known about until after CBC. Seen visiting an area with several suitable trees (mature eucalyptus and oak), some with sapsucker holes (viewed from 34.196764, -118.166493 ). It had flown up from a cluster of trees due west at basin level, and I followed it up the bluff to find it feeding in a eucalyptus near the upper paved trail. Photos.
