Observation details
Found in the middle of the cottonwood and willow plantings. First heard calling, the distinct sad whistle. The bird then flew across the berm and landed in a nearby tree. I was able to watch it catch and eat an insect for at least 5 minutes. It called every now and then. I noted that it looked like an Ash-throated Flycatcher but did not have noticeable rufous in the tail. I was able to get video of it moving around and calling. The audio and photos were taken from that video.
