Observation details
Lifer for me. Photographed and audio recorded. Seemed wild to me. Two different individuals were photographed. Not currently countable per A.B.A. rules. Audio here: Two of the eight individuals were confidently identified as Red-masked Parakeets, to the exclusion of Mitred and other Psittacara sp. (see photos above). I didn't see the other six parakeets until the group of eight flushed from the tree, but I think it is safe to consider them also Red-masked because: 1) the calls from the flock sounded like one species, 2) all birds appeared to be the same size in flight, and 3) although there were few records of either species at the time I made this observation, in the 12 intervening years Red-masked has been regularly reported here and Mitred has never been documented.
