Observation details
Rare and a state first for me (a lifer for Ted). On a failed mission to relocate the previous day's Barnacle Goose reported in Milton, we tried a few spots locally that seemed to have goose potential, the last of which was the Presidents Golf Course at the suggestion of Dan Burton. On an initial scan of the CANG flock feeding around the pond in the SW corner of the course, I spotted this gull and immediately knew it was something unusual and waved Ted over. We watched as it ambled along, slowly feeding along the grassy edges of the pond, in the midst of geese, occasionally picking at the ground. When a passing golfer flushed the geese into the pond, the gull seemed mostly unbothered. We managed a few docshots from the ridge above, suspecting Franklin's but wanting to get better looks, and then decided to try and grab some better photographs from the sidewalk along Granite Ave. When we got down there, the bird was actually fairly close to the edge of the fence and we were able to get decent views and definitively rule out LAGU, with a first-cycle FRGU looking right for the bird in question. Ran a back of the camera shot by Marshall who confirmed the ID. Pictures to be added to this checklist.
