Observation details
Perhaps the same bird found by Terry Little in September or a new one. Molting, quite messy feathers noted in flight. Dark slaty back easily stood out from nearby Herring and CA gulls even at distant scope views prior to it coming closer with chumming. After it was closer noted more details: bill with red spot; iris interestingly appeared quite dark. Head/nape quite heavily streaked overall. Feet yellow. It kept its distance for the most part flying in to investigate the feeding gull frenzy but not taking part, eventually flying off again to the spits to the north.
