NOTES: (General Climate: dry; Cover Density: medium) Probably 2 individuals: one in the foreground that is obviously what was being recorded; and a second in the background giving a measured "wheeer" call, described by Sibley as "soft, high, quiet, whistled meeeow descending." 1 bird seen in beam of flashlight. (ML Notes: The wheer called referred to above is known as the "Bark" according to the BNA and is described as a single sharp 'cheeur' or 'wheeur'. The BNA describes the vocalization as heard in the foreground of this recording as the Chatter Song (song-type A). Also, beginning at about 3:36, the Chatter Song seems to be continuous, with possibly more notes per second, and may be a variant of the Chatter song, referred to as song B in the BNA. CZ 10/12/03. Other Behaviors: Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Riparian, Canyon.
