Media notes
Sabine's Gull in center (with Franklin's and Ring-billed)
Observation details
Small gull with distinctive contrasting wing pattern. Outer wedge of primaries to bend of wing--black. From below, light shining through the white inner primaries and secondaries formed a contrasting posterior wedge. Tail white. Wings relatively narrow (narrower than Franklin's in the flock). Flight buoyant and graceful. With a swirling flock of Franklin's and Ring-billed Gulls moving downriver as the storm front moved through. Unfortunately, I spent too much time watching the gulls through binoculars and only took photos as the flock started moving away. Photos grainy and monochrome owing to the poor light.
