Observation details

Adult bird, still in breeding plumage. Seen in muddy area at edge of small body of water. Distinctive shape: rather chunky, long-billed shorebird with orange underside. Did not have the top-heavy, cocked-tail shape impression of a Long-billed Dowitcher, plus Short-billed Dowitchers are earlier migrants.
