Observation details
Continuing mega rarity. Immaculately crisp juvenile, seen in the same area as reported by many others; bird was within 75 feet of the road (sometimes even closer) the entire time from when I showed up to when I left it around 4pm. I did stop back on the way out (~5:10pm) and did not see the bird. Size and shape like Pectoral but much brighter overall with orange and reddish buffy tones. Boldly rufous cap offset by white supercilium and white line forward of eye as well, distinct eyering, breast buffy orange with fine streaking, much less streaked than Pec, mantle/scaps/coverts dark centered with rich rufous edges, white underparts aft of the breast, yellow legs. Bird calmly fed and rested the entire time, preened twice. Simply an outstanding encounter for a rarity of this magnitude.
