Media notes
Three cuts combined. There was seemingly very little to eat for a honeyeater in the area. This bird was defending a flowering Hakea shrub from an encroaching Singing Honeyeater. In the second cut, around 2:46, the Spiny-cheeked is actively displacing the Singing Honeyeater while simultaneously singing. You can hear a few whines of the Singing at the same time. In the third cut you can hear the Singing calling from a nearby shrub in "protest".
