See sonogram for Couch's call from xeno-canto, XC 320 665, May 13, 2015, by Paul Marvin, at Bentsen-Rio Grande SP.
Observation details
Bird initially found on the same bare, tall stob, along the Johnson Creek side. It remained silent for about 10 minutes, then flew in the direction of a large oak in the center of the property. I later saw, photographed and recorded a Couch's, which I assume is the same bird. I photographed the bird perched on a wire next to the office. I recorded the bird calling within one minute after photographing it, a Western Kingbird-like repeated call, unlike Tropical Kingbird. Please see photos and audio, below. The bird was foraging in the office area, Hawking insects using a utility wire for a perch. Bird's wing edges appeared yellow, as expected for Couch's. I have included photos of the bird foraging, then photos that I took earlier along Johnson Creek. Bird was preening while on the stob.
